We’re taking a few moments to focus on each of the lovely venues we’ll be visiting with The Maids. Next is:
Seven Arts Theatre, Leeds
Seven is an independent not-for-profit arts space in Chapel Allerton, Leeds 7, which opened in July 2007.
Originally started by a group of local residents and built up of 10 years, their aim is to deliver and enable high quality arts activity to the whole community.
They say the following about themselves:
“The most basic function of the arts is to develop and inspire the individual; to engender curiosity and creative activity; to lift daily experience beyond the mundane. Our desire at Seven is to encourage the exchange of ideas and creativity between individuals and organisations.”
Which is an admirable way to operate in anyone’s book.
We took our production of Playboy of the Wide World to Seven Arts last year and had a wonderful time. A brilliant space and lovely staff is complimented by a really good bar built onto the front of the venue – the place is the ideal venue for a great night out from start to finish.
