We’ve been busy! For the last 6 months we’ve been putting together our latest venture – the children’s theatre and storytelling wing of Hedgepig Theatre – Hoglets.

Hoglets runs drama and storytelling classes for babies, toddlers and their parents or carers.

Hoglets classes bring storytime to life, taking drama performance skills and applying them to the telling of tales.

Classes begin with a story performed by Mama Hoglet herself, actress Gemma Sharp, followed by fun games, songs, craft and advice on the methods used, and how parents can take them home and make them their own.

Classes cover a huge range of exciting drama skills including:

  • Shadow Puppets
  • Masks
  • Voices
  • Creating characters
  • Physicality
  • Creating your own stories
  • and lots more…

Classes are taking place at children’s centres across York every week – starting Mon 6th and Tues 7th January 2014:

Every Monday
1.30pm (under 2 years) at Clifton Children’s Centre.

Every Tuesday

9.30am (under 2 years) and 10.30am (2-4 years) at Knavesmire Children’s Centre.
12.30pm (under 2 years) and 1.45pm (2-4 years) at Hobmoor Children’s Centre

To book your place email Hoglets at gemma@hoglets.org.uk or call 07508 672163.
Classes cost £3.50 per child + £1.50 for each additional child.

See www.hoglets.org.uk for all dates and venues.

Hedgepig founder Gemma was inspired to found Hoglets following the birth of her daughter. “Hedgepig has always been a family company and, since becoming a mother, I wanted to develop something that would include my daughter in that world. I really wanted to use my experience as an actor to work with parents using techniques – storytelling, puppetry – as a way of nurturing their infants language and social development.”

We hope some of you will come and join us on this next exciting part of Hedgepig’s adventure!
